I'm pushing for Obama, but I don't have a lot of confidence that he'll win. As much as we like to say we're a changed country, there are a lot of people who simply cannot bring themselves to vote for someone who's half black, or who was (partially) raised in a predominantly Muslim environment. Worse, the talk now is of having Hillary as vice. Between people who hate Hillary and those who hate Obama, I have a hard time seeing the team winning. That said, John McCain is more moderate than most Republicans. I wouldn't mind him as much as some--but I am worried that he'll select a vice president farther to the right.

I'm most definitely pulling for McCain (I'm a Conservative, obviously). I think that if Obama takes Clinton as his V.P., he's going to have a better chance at winning the presidency although, they're going to argue a lot while together in office. I think that if McCain takes Romney, he's got a guranteed victory. |

Actually I doubt a partnership with Clinton would do anything but hurt Obama. After the bitter race, picking her as VP would make him look weak--not to mention arouse the ire of all the Clinton-haters out there. If he's smart, Obama will pick someone known for "supporting the troops"--a proponent of the new GI bill, for example. |

I think in general, a good strategy is to pick a Vice President that will agree with you, but shows strength in your weak areas. I think that's what you mean about Obama picking someone who 'supports the troops'. |

Well, Obama has been said to be having private discussions ON THE SUBJECT OF VICE-PRESIDENT with a REPUBLICAN. I forget his name, but I'm pretty sure he is a senator in one of the Great Plains states. Damn G.O.P deserter, go die. As for McCain's V.P., it better not be Romney. I lived under a state controlled by Romney for his entire four-year term and he really did suck. None of his policies were conservative-based; just some moderate attempt at reforming my liberal state government. Mind you, gay marriage was legalized here under Mitt Romney. The ONLY vice president that I'd be happy with is Fred Thompson. There's really no one out there that impresses me. |

It might be smart to get a republican Vice President, to show his 'balance on views' (in quotes, you notice) or something, but it might also cause a lot of controversy and be a bad thing for him. |

I love the idea of a (moderate) Republican VP, but it would be a very risky move. And it looks like Romney is set the be The One. Shame.
